Once upon a time there were these two chicks. We'll call them... Sephy & Amet, because that's what they're called. They were the kind of fen brats who spent a good, oh, 2/3 of their waking hours plotting, writing, or editing fanfiction. This is possibly more time and energy than is strictly healthy, but the fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness' is entertaining to tightrope so we'll pretend we didn't notice that.
Anyway, our chicas got into a few things long enough to amass a --dare we say it-- body of work, but since they were fickle little things and changed fandoms more often than they changed socks, they kept having to find their work new homes on the cozy little topic centric archives of many a net friend, because they'd been shortsighted in making several fandom specific archives of their own that never seemed to cover everything. This of course made archiving each new piece of fiction ten times more complicated than it needed to be, and it was decided for the sake of laziness expedience that it was time to make one archive to rule house them all.
Thus, F a l l e n I c o n s was born, a collective writing archive built and maintained by the webmistresses of winter-born.NET to harbor a running tally of fanfiction, artwork, websites, Livejournal communities and role playing activities across fandoms, genres, and what-have-you for both us, and several of those aforementioned net friends who have the same trouble we do finding good homes for their work. The roster of hostees has proved to be ever evolving, but the site's survived and expanded since January of '04, and now stands as a pretty hefty repository of fanfiction across multiple fandoms with the occasional original story thrown in for entertainment value.
The short version? We're geeks who write. We bring our friends. Go with it.
